Could we be looking at the future of the hotel business? I found this one floating -wink wink - around on the Popular Science website. What you are looking at is no blimp. It is the 400-ton luxury Aeroscraft.
Igor Pasterna of Worldwide Aeros Corporation came up with this behemoth of an idea. It is a huge luxury hotel in the sky, almost like a cruise ship except with no limitations like needing "water" to "float". The Aeroscraft can land not only on solid ground, but in snow and on water as well. To minimize noise, the aft-mounted propellers will be electric, powered by a renewable source such as hydrogen fuel cells. The prototype is set to be complete in 2010 and already has interest from some cruise lines.
I would LOVE to take a trip on one of these suckers! Imagine having a nice dinner with the family in one of the Aeroscraft's restaurants while looking out the window and watching North America getting smaller and smaller. What a rush.
